The 5th All India Conference of School Teachers Federation (STFI) will be held at Ajit Bag Nagar, Kanyakumari, Tamilnadu on 17-19th May 2012 with the slogan “Save and strengthen Public Education, Oppose Privatization, Commercialisation and Centralisation”
This conference will discuss the problems facing the teachers, students and Education and will decide on the future course of actions.
After 64 years of independence, in our nation, more than one fourth of the population are illiterates. (As per the Census 2011) Eminant Educationist Kothari insisted that 6% G.D.P. should be spent on Education. Because of its new liberal policies, the Govt. of India is not only ready to spent 6% G.D.P. on education but also is privitising and commercialising education to make profit by private institutions. We need legistation for social control over all self financing education institutions, in admission with reservation, salaries and service conditions of teachers and employees, infrastructure, and the secular syllabus and curriculam in accordance with the constitution and in democratisation.
The Centralisation of Education by Govt. of India questioned the federal system of our Nation. Without consulting State Governments, Government of India, takes decisions and asking the state Government to implement. Education is being centralized.
In RTE Act Pre-Primary and Higher Secondary are left out. It should be included in RTE Act.
In this background, the 5th All India Conference of STFI starts on 17th May 2012. Around 1000 deligates from all over our nation are participating in this conference
The President STFI, Karthik Mandal will hoist the flag. Reception Committee Chairman Prof. Dr James R. Daniel will deliver welcome address. Educationist Dr. K.N. Panickar will inaugurate the Conference. The collector of Kanyakumari District Sri.Nagarajan, the General Secretary AISGEF, R. MuthuSundaram, the General Secretary AIFUCTO, Ashok Barman, the Geneal Secretary FI, Rittabrata Banarjee are greeting the Conference.
On that day at 3.00 P.M the deligate session starts. In the evening 6.00 P.M. to 8.00 P.M. Women session will be held.
The full day of 18th May deligate session will be held and at the end of the day, the General Council of STFI will elect new office bearers.
On 19th May 2012, at 10.00 A.M. a National Education Seminar on the topic “Quality Education for all, Problems and Prospects” will be held.
Dr. D. Purandeswari, Hon’ble Minister of state, HRD, New Delhi will be the Chief Guest. Tamilnadu Hon’ble Forest Minister Shri. K.T. Pachaimal with the special Guest. Members of Parliament Sri. T.K. RALLEY AND PUBLIC MEETING
At. 3.00 P.M., there will be a teachers ralley. Thousands of teachers from Tamil Nadu and Kerala will participating. At 5.00 P.M., there will be a public meeting The newly elected leaders and A.K. Padmanaban, All India President CITU, P.K. Biju, All India Prsident SFI, Sri Bellarmin Ex M.P., Ramachandran leader JCTU, R. Leema Rose, Ex. M.L.A., and Manohara Justus, General Secretary MUTA are addressing. Sri Muruga Selvaraj, General Secretary TNPTF, will preside the meeting. A. Mayavan Ex MLC gives wecome address. K.
